Train budget: A boost for Rajasthan tourism

JAIPUR: The New Delhi-Jaipur double decker and Jaipur-Agra Shatabdi locomotives proposed in 2011 rail budget has elated the travel and leisure fraternity. The proposal is placed to boost tourism in the condition as poor train connection was seen as a major handicap thanks to the sparsely located tourist destinations in Rajasthan.

Rail Minister Mamata Banerjee has proposed 15 new trains to Rajasthan that includes most of the prominent tourist destinations in the state including Bikaner, Jodhpur, Jaisalmer, Udaipur and Ajmer.

“The proposed trains would encourage domestict tourists as they may come from all over the country to Rajasthan, ” said state travel and leisure minister Bina Kak. The lady said that the trains would also encourage religious travel and leisure in the state.

The demand for the Shatabdi between Jaipur and Agra was long-pending. Within want of a suitable train, tourists often opt for private taxis for the Jaipur-Agra-Delhi fantastic traingle.

Religious tourism will get a considerable boost with four new trains to Ajmer. The particular Union minister has announced the Nizammudin-Ajmer Non AIR CONDITIONERS Duronto (bi-weekly), Kolkata-Ajmer (weekly), Bhagalpur-Ajmer (weekly) and Varansi-Ahmedabad via Ajmer, which is also weekly.

4 other trains including Chandigarh-Jaipur Garib Rath Express have already been extended, which will also increase regularity of Ajmer-bound trains. With a heavy rush of pilgrims for both Ajmer and Pushkar, these trains are being welcomed.
