RAJKOT: To promote spiritual tourism in Palitana within Bhavnager district, the Travel and leisure Corporation of Gujarat Restricted (TCGL) in co-ordination with Pavitra Yatradham board can spend Rs 50 lakh to develop infrastructure facilities just for pilgrims.
The particular Jain pilgrimage centre would be projected internationally to bring in pilgrims from across the world. The two-day religious festival has also been organised by TCGL upon March 11 and twelve.
The mountain town of Palitana is one of the major pilgrimages in India just for Jains and is also one of the most difficult to access.
In order to provide better infrastructure facilities like accommodation, roads, moving water and beautification, TCGL has started a bigtime workout, says Vijay Rupani leader of TCGL.
He said that every year, lakhs of pilgrims visit Palitana but the infrastructure facilities within the temple town are not sufficient.
“Our purpose is to attract NRI pilgrims at Palitana and for that, proper accommodation and other facilities facilities had to improve within the town, ” added Rupani. The religious festival will be inaugurated by state agriculture minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasama.
During the two-day tillst?llning, a seminar on astronomy would be organised, in which a group of scientists from Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), Jain saints and a group of research students plus professors of Bhavnagar University would discuss Jain concepts and modern astronomy.
A seminar upon industrial prospects will also be held during the festival and ressortchef (umgangssprachlich) of state for market and mines, Anil Patel, will interact with industrialists.
Palitana is well known for a flourishing dustry in rosewater and musical instruments. A good exhibition on the life associated with Lord Adishwar with will also be organised by TCGL where the basic principles of non violence in the Jain religion would be projected.
Throughout the festival, minister of state for tourism C Deb Patel, Bhavnagar mayor Mehul Vadodaria, Palitana MLA Mansukh Mandavia, Member of Parliament Rajendrasinh Rana and the entire district administration team will remain existing.
